Why Move to the Branson Area?

There's a myriad of reasons that people would move here but probably the first and the foremost is that we're a conservative area, a red State serving God, Family and Country. If that doesn't appeal to you then we wish you the best. Churches of all faiths abound here, hundreds in a 25 mile radius of Branson. As a general rule, people are friendly here and neighbors are treated like family, a friendly smile, a wave, sharing resources and just watching out for each other. American Flags fly on every street in every city, village or rural area.

This is a green place, no, not in the current culture 'green' but in trees, grass, meadows and even during drought years it maintains its greenness. Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo have about the same amount of coast line as does the state of California, nearly 800 miles. The land exists on a plateau with rolling hills, hollows, creeks, shrubs, flowers and trees, trees, trees. Temperature highs are rarely over 100° and lows sometimes under 10° with very little snow. Rainfall in the area is usually around 45" and the humidity is high but not intolerable. Many thunderstorms roll through this country. Air quality ranges from good to excellent and you can see people out on brisk morning walks every day.

Table Rock dam produces much of the electricity for the area and rates are not multi-tiered, you have a static rate and depending on the company you sign with there is a low fixed monthly fee and a KWH range of 10-12¢. We have one of the lowest fuel costs (gas & propane) in the nation as the refineries of Texas and Louisiana aren't that far away. Roads are well kept but as in most mountain communities, sometimes winding.

There is no shortage of food and entertainment here as Branson is often referred to as the Disneyland of the southwest. You'll find nearly all of the many common fast foods outlets or restaurants and many more that are local to the area or to the southwest that feature that old down home country style plates. If you've heard of 'corn fed' then this is the place. Theaters and show houses line the business route 76 through Branson called the strip. There are literally hundreds of places to eat, drink and be entertained with many live dinner shows. If it's a traveling dinner show you're looking for then the Branson Belle, an old time paddle wheel boat will fit the bill at a reasonable cost. Speaking of reasonable costs, there are many discounts for locals and it gets even better in the off season.

Land and housing here still costs relatively little and you'll find no excessive fees nor bulding codes, especially in the unincorporated areas. Property taxes are moderate and in addition there is a low tax on vehicles with registration fees very low. You can hunt and fish at little cost and if you are over 65 then there is no requirement for a fishing license. There is plenty of fish, deer and turkey just waiting to be eaten. Hunting licenses will cost anywhere from 7$ to $17 for adult resident and about half that for young adults. This is the home of Johnny Morris with his BassPro shops with one in Branson and if you want to visit the granddaddy of all museums then the NRA gun museum in the Basspro at Springfield in which you could spend more than a day discovering, is only about 40 miles away. Oh Yeah, this is a 2nd Amendment State with Constitutional open carry and is a 'shall issue' by the local sheriff for concealed carry.
